Robert Ariza is a native of Queens, New York and a graduate of The University of Michigan with a BFA in Musical Theatre. He is also a proud alum of LaGuardia Arts High School (the "Fame" school). Robert made his Broadway debut as a swing in the Deaf West Revival of SPRING AWAKENING, and can be heard on the original cast recording of Neil Bartram & Brian Hill's THE THEORY OF RELATIVITY.
Robert is most recognized for his work in the Chicago company of HAMILTON, where he was in the ensemble and understudied the titular role. He also played the role of Marius to great acclaim on the National Tour of LES MISÉRABLES.
In 2013, Robert received the Roger Sturtevant Award from the Actor's Equity Association for his outstanding abilities in musical theatre. Apart from acting and singing, he also plays piano/guitar/ukulele in addition to being a composer.
Robert participated as a finalist in the 2014 Lotte Lenya Competition sponsored by the Kurt Weill Foundation, and was awarded the Lys Symonette Award for his performance of "She's a Woman" from KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN. He has sung backup for Josh Groban and has also performed in several concerts at Feinstein's 54 Below, Birdland Jazz Club, Ars Nova, and more.
Robert recently played Zebulon in Manhattan Concert Productions' JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT at Lincoln Center. Up next, he will be featured in the world premiere of THE VISITOR at The Public Theater.
